The world's largest hand-loomed carpet, the fastest roller coaster, the highest high tea, the tower with the greatest lean, the largest cluster of cultural buildings of the 21st century – UAE capital Abu Dhabi isn't afraid to challenge world records. Welcome to an exciting city where nothing stands still…except perhaps the herons in its mangroves.
For those looking to engage with Gulf culture, Abu Dhabi offers opportunities to understand the UAE's history through museums, exhibitions and tours. But thankfully Emirati heritage isn't boxed and mothballed; it's also experienced through strolls around the dhow harbour, haggling in markets and absorbing the atmosphere at sheesha cafes.
Steeped in the rich traditions of the Middle East, Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates, artfully blends the ancient past with the modern present. From one of the world’s largest mosques, to the mesmerising and trendy Corniche, there is a lot to take in within this majestic Emirate. Your journey begins in Dubai where you will be picked-up at the pre-designated hotel lobby at the set time. As you head out on the two-hour drive to Abu Dhabi, you will see the world’s largest man-made port at Jebel Ali. Now the fun really begins because as you approach the capital, its majestic city skyline will dazzle and amaze. You will pass Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, one of the largest in the world and named after the late president, HH Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan. The tour continues into the heart of the city, Union Square before a drive down to the Corniche, the impressive eight-kilometre stretch of perfectly manicured waterfront with children’s play area, beach, cafés and restaurants. From there, you will move onto Heritage Village, specifically designed to continually remind the younger Emiratis of their rich and colourful past. Finally, the tour will conclude at Abu Dhabi Marina Mall, home to hundreds of luxury shops as well as souvenir stores where you can pick up mementos of your day out in the capital. After a long yet adventurous day, the coach will take you back to Dubai, to your original rendezvous location.
